Tactics for Sartharion (easy mode)
Details for the 10 Man version
Sartharion has 2,510,100 HP, his Cleave attack is fairly weak. There are 3 drakes with him: Tenebron, Shadron and Vesperon. You can kill them without engaging boss. It will make boss fight easy and I'll focus on this entry-method in this guide.
Drakes Fight
After you enter instance, go left and fight your way to the first drake, Vesperon. Then continue to Tenebron and finally Shadron. All three drakes has some common abilities:
Shadow breath
Frontal attack that deals shadow damage. Damage is fairly low when drakes are killed one by one. Nevertheless only Tank should take this damage, so turn him away from the group.
Shadow Fissure
Creates a shadowy area on the ground, which hits everyone inside after 5 seconds with large amount of shadow damage. It is often not visible due to Desecration and Death and Decay AoE threat abilities. Lowering spell details can help with spotting Shadow Fissure.
Drake 1: Vesperon
Tank and spank fight until 15-20 second when he spawns a portal. Everyone except Main Tank and Healer should use that portal to teleport to phased area. There will be one disciple that need to be killed. Disciple will place Twilight Torment debuff on whole raid, that increases shadow and fire damage taken by 75%. After that you'll be teleported back to normal phase.
Drake 2: Tenebron
Similar to Vesperon, but you can ignore the portal. There are some eggs in phased area, but killing them is waste of time. If you ignore that portal, multiple small whelps will spawn, which are easy to OT and AoE after Tenebron is dead. Keep in mind, that whelps can apply a stacking Fade Armor debuff, reducing armor by about 1200.
Drake 3:Shadron
Shadron is basically same as Vesperon. When portal spawns, all except Main Tank and Healer jump in and kill disciple. Disciple will place Gift of Twilight buff on Shadron, that increases shadow and fire damage done by 50% and makes Shadron immune to attacks.
Boss Fight
Fighting without any drakes up is all about movement and adds handling. Good positioning at the beginning is important for easy avoiding of Lava Waves. Adds (Fire Elementals) will be spawned in pack of 2-4 and should be off-tanked. DPS priority is Sartharion, but Fire Elementals should be killed with AoE to not overwhelm Off-tank. At 10% Sartharion spawns additional 5-10 Fire Elementals.
Tail Whip
He stuns for 2 secs with Tail Whip and deals minor damage.
Frontal Fire Breath
10k damage, only tank should be in front of him. In 3.0.8 range if this breath has been increases, so taunt by OT before breath trick doesn't work anymore.
Pyrobuffet
He casts this at anyone outside of his platform, which kills instantly. However, you can briefly dip in the lava to avoid Lava Wave and it won't trigger Pyrobuffet.
Lava Waves
At certain intervals, Lava Wave will spawn on left or right long edge of the platform. Waves from the left side, have two gaps. Waves from the right side, have one gap. Everyone, including tank, should fit in that gap to avoid fire damage and dots from Lava Wave. It is very nicely shown in the movie below.
Additional mobs
Once in a while, pack of 2-4 Fire Elementals will be spawned. They have around 26k hp and hit for about 800 dmg. Off-tank job is to keep them off the group. AoE tank with strong AoE threat is preferred. AoE taunts are dangerous, because you can taunt Sartharion accidently. Key issue is moving with those adds to avoid Lava Waves. If Lava Wave hit Fire Elemental, he enrages and hits for 400% normal damage. Enraged Elemental becomes bigger and DPS should burn him down. Having 2 or more enraged Elementals on OT is too much strain for Healers. Additional 5-10 Fire Elementals are spawned when Sartharion drops to 10% hp.
