Fury – Warriors that go RARRR

Yes warriors can do DPS, I know it might come as a shock but we can mix it up with the traditional dps classes. To help you build a dps warrior I have put a brief guide on some of the basics and tried to answer some FAQ’s. This guide is aimed at players who have hit level 80 and focuses on the Fury Talent Tree.

Talents

18/53/0 Is without a doubt the most popular build.

Arms talents
You want to spec in as far as Two Handed Specialisation (You’re going to be waving 2 of them around so it’s a BIG help!!), also make sure you pick up deep wounds and impale.

Fury Talents
Now this is a bit more flexible depending on your style of play, but there are certain talents I would highly recommend.
First Cruelty is an absolute Must 5% Crit is just too good to pass on.
Then Unbridled Wrath = More Rage
Tier three is a bit more tough, I personally go for commanding presence, as shouts no longer stack with BoM some avoid it preferring the Pally option, my thought is you won’t always have a Pally in your group and its duration can be extended with Glyphs.
Dual Wield, Precision, Death Wish, Flurry & Bloodthirst all come next.
I would also go for improved Whirlwind, which is a Fury Warriors main AoE.
Finally Improved Berserker’s stance and on to the final 3 tiers where you grab everything culminating in the Awesome Titans grip.
You will have a few points left and the forums are full of debates on where to spend these so I’ll let you decide which is best for your style of play.

What Stats should I aim for?

Hit Rating

Which ever way you look at it this is one of the most important stats currently for a Warrior – It doesn’t matter how hard you hit if you keep missing you don’t do any damage.
You want to aim for a minimum of 8% Hit (This is your softcap) if you have taken precision 3/3 (Which you should have done). It doesn’t matter if your HR continues to climb after you hit the soft cap it just no longer becomes your most important Stat.

Strength

This is another essential stat. More Strength = More Damage & Attack Power.

Crit

Another important stat for a number of reasons
1st Crit's = More Damage
2nd Crit’s = More Rage which gives more of your special attacks so More Damage
Also when your Crit procs it refreshes Flurry (Guess what More Rage, More Damage)
However do not take Crit and the expense of AP, if you do you will hit like a poodle.

Expertise

Once you have your Hit, AP, Crit and Str sorted out its time to look at Expertise. You are looking for 214 Expertise rating, this will negate those annoying dodges those horrible bosses keep getting – Less dodging = More Damage.
It will also cut down on the parrying of your attacks; this though varies depending on the Parry rating of the boss in question.

Haste & Armour Penetration

You only really look at these if you have all previous abilities sorted (Very unlikely unless you are a hardcore raider) these really are not worth working on.

Rotation

Since the last patch there has been some confusion about Fury rotation but at the moment the most popular seems to be

Whirlwind, Bloodthirst, Slam whenever it procs as it has 0 Cool Down. (Heroic Strike if Rage above 60) – Repeat until able to execute.
Deathwish and Recklessness use at the start of each boss encounter, with the CD being relatively short you might get a second chance to use them again.

Gems

If you have hit your softcap for Hit Rating Never Never Never get HR gems.

Meta - Chaotic Skyflare Diamond: 3% Increased Critical Strike damage, +21 Critical Strike Rating
Bold Scarlet Ruby - +16 Strength (Red)
Inscribed Monarch Topaz: 8 Strength, 8 Crit Rating (Orange)
Sovereign Twilight Opal: 8 Strength, 12 Stamina (Purple)
Jagged Forest Emerald: 8 Crit Rating, 12 Stamina (Green)
Smooth Autumn's Glow: +16 Crit Rating (Yellow)

You should maintain just enough Blue gems to have a working meta gem. Purple/Orange/Green gems work as either of their two component colours. i.e.: Purple can count as Red or Blue. The Chaotic Skyflare Diamond will always yield the highest dps of the Meta gems currently available.
